How do you deal with a annoying boss that power trips in an “acting position”?
I am busy as hell all the time as I am an admin for 5 officers with a caseload of 850 inmates. My boss wants to talk all the time like we are best friends about things that have already been settled or what I am doing this weekend, or why I don t wear my hair like I had it yesterday, or why I don t walk all the way to her office to say good morning everyday when my desk is the first stop inside the suite. I am really getting aggravated. I am moving out of state in 55 days and it will be over soon, but it seems like I am going to flip out on this woman. To top it off, she has been having power trips ever since my original boss retired and she is the acting senior in charge. If I take advice from another officer she immediately states She is not is charge Bossy I am, I am the acting supervisor I am like please lady. I can t wait until the day. I was going to give a month s notice before quitting but now I am pissed and will only be giving them 2 weeks. not enough time to find somebody But what do you think I should tell this lady?

Is my acting position fair?
I have been working in the same company for over a year now, in that time I have had increased responsibilities, had to work as acting coordinator when coordinator was on leave and one day a week which she had off as well as always going beyond my role, never made any mistakes or had to be spoken to about anything. I got a fantastic 6 month review yet now the coordinator has resigned and she recommended me and even gave a validation of all the things I have done since employed there. Our funding body said they hoped I would get the job and I have very good strong r ships with our stakeholders.Yet I was made to interview for the position, they also interviewed one other person and have since been told that they will extend my time as acting coordinator. I was a bit annoyed because I had just gone thru a huge interview process and didnt really get anywhere.I asked what would happen if I didnt get the job come dec when they said they would reevaluate how i was going and see if I was capable of job and they said that theyw ouldnt let it come to that and this whole 'acting' coordinator thing is so I can get support in the next 3 months to enable me to get the position.Does this sound right to you? To me it sounds like I just didnt get the job. I dont trust my boss's. they treat us like crap. Would you talk to them about it or is this a common thing to happen?
Self medicating or acting out, what is your position and why?
I was reading a book and it had the term " self medicating" in it for those that were using alcohol and drugs to relieve their problems and " help them do better or feel better" , I have also read that acting out can be many things including using alcohol and drugs, so I am asking what your position is?This is a psychology forum if you know anything about psychology besides the mumbo jumbo you should have a clear understanding of what acting out without me saying any more then I already have. I am asking what you think and why?I am not asking what acting out is, I am talking about alcohol and drug use and self medicating as a means of acting out, what is the position you take on it? And why? That book is an advertisement link to some book you can buy, but I did do the thing it said to do. I wrote my own qoute and so I will share that with the answers of this question Please help me balance and protect my family, my home, my social life, my finances, and my work even if I do what I do voluntarily now because I think that it must be done. Help me to keep an eye on the prize and peacefully possess my passion so that I can keep it within the vision that I have for my life and those around me." I prefer self medicating." I am talking about using alcohol and drugs as the means to make problems go away." Alcohol is great for that. You just have to make sure it doesn't get out of control." For those that drink responsibly that is one thing, and not medicating, it is getting a slight buzz on or feeling of relaxation a choice maybe, but it is when you drink it to get rid of troubles that it can cause problems or for someone that doesn't know how to drink. An arguement for parents teaching kids how to drink responsibly? I'm not sure?" It's better than acting out because you can do it by yourself and you won't feel stupid the next day because of some trouble you got yourself into by acting out." Would use to cover up problems on a daily basis be acting out, and then if it progressed would it cause you problems? Most people rarely drink at home alone as far as I know they do it in crowds and to socialize and lots of them over drink and get into trouble.
How should I negotiate a salary for an "acting" position?
I have been offered an " acting" or " interim" position. If things go well, I will be appointed to the position in May. The problem is that I am being asked to take on the " acting" position as well as continuing my own. The offer is only about $200 a month over my current salary to do both jobs which I have already been doing for 5 months and take on additional responsibilities.Advice? There are no plans to backfill the lower position. I have had to let some things slide these past few months and I have been told that these areas must be significantly increased. I have been feeling overworked but a friend told me that is the culture at our institution and that people think I should just suck it up. I have researched the salary and it is in the lower 10% of the median range.
If you are a girlfriend does acting like a wife get you to that position?
My friend acts like her boyfriend is her husband. When I listen to her telling me things I keep thinking he has her just where he wants her. He says he loves her and will marry her one day but they are years into a relationship and he is focusing on his career. On one hand I can believe that because he does put a lot of time into it but at the same time, I feel like he really doesn't need to make her his wife because she already acts like she is.No they don't live together. She's already tried to get him to do that twice. He refuses. He would rather live with his buddies which he does. so instead she comes over and irons, cleans, sews. She cooks too but he does cook for her sometimes. And of course he gets plenty. Whenever she's available and he wants it.
