Question: Is it too late to try to get into acting at almost 30yrs old? ?

The reason I say 'try' is because I would want to do this while working my regular job, which involves a good amount of travelling and thus makes it even more difficult to pursue it. Since moving out to Cali 5+yrs ago, I have been working regular non- industry jobs and then in a period of unemployment between jobs I attempted to pursue it a bit and got scammed and was left with a sour taste regarding pursuing it further. Bottom line is that I discovered that I truly enjoyed acting when I got one of the leads in a college production and from what people had told me I did a great job. Not to mention I had a blast doing it! Yet, upon moving out here I haven't really pursued it beyond what I have stated and want to change that because I truly want to at least try it. Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, etc. as to how I might go about doing this and even finding reputable representation that could actually lead to gigs if I fit the role would be greatly appreciated. I would love to be able to pursue it full- time and ideally be able to support myself by acting, but I do not have the luxury to be able to do so financially so that is not an option. Again, any and all feedback is much appreciated. Cheers!

Never too old, forget that part right now. To say one is to old is like saying there is no hope lol.. so straighten up and forget about your age, has nothing to do with your talent or dreams, now does it. Ok, an idea on how to get started. Go to one of the local theater, where it is more or less a community effort, no big money involved if you know what I mean. And volunteer to help. THEN when you have your foot in the door, let them know you want to try out. Step by step, you can work your way into acting. You may get discovered right away or it may take a few years, heaven forbid, but don't give up, Enjoy the small theater for what it is, learn the lingo, learn what is behind all of it. Enjoy the Thespians as they call themselves. Eat it up, let if become part of you and you it. Then nature/ fate will take over and on you will go, either to be rich and famous or to be richly gifted from your experiences. Best of luck to you.

Well, if you have experience there's no reason why you can't act. Lots of producers need 30+ age actors. I would recommend signing up with some online acting communities. They will post a headshot and your resume. Directors will often browse such groups for material. As for supporting yourself through acting...best of luck, but only a very small percentage of actors can make it that way. Most work part-time as well. To gain more experience while working, I'd suggest joining in some community theatre and perhaps asking around to find a group interested in film acting around your area. Best of luck!

With not much experience, I'd say that the odds of going out in the industry at your age are slim. Community theater is always a good alternative, and it seems fitting for you. You have a job, so you're not in it for the money, and if you just want to do it for the sole purpose of satisfying your thirst for the arts, go for a community theater with a good reputation. BREAK A LEG!

It's NOT too late! If you really enjoy it and it bring you happiness and you're good, then go for it! Most of the best and well known actors in Hollywood are in their 30's, 40's, and plus some! If you don't try it then you may regret it so go do it! GOOD LUCK!
